Realme phone will get the Android 10 (Realme UI) update

Realme has already rolled out Android 10 update for most devices in its extensive portfolio.

Realme launched its first phone in the market two years ago, and in such a short time, this brand managed to make a great place for itself in India. Realme consistently outperformed Xiaomi in the entry-level and budget segments, which could give it momentum in a few months.

Realme was formed as a sub-brand of OPPO, and ColorOS was left out of the box in such phones. But the brand broke into a standalone unit last year, and switched to its own skin with a cleaner design dubbed the Realty UI. Realme has already updated several of its devices from ColorOS to Realme UI based on Android 10, with some scheduled to receive updates later in Q2 and Q3 2020.

Realme UI takes advantage of ColorOS, but visual elements have been overhauled, making it look more modern. It is likely that we will see the bulk change down the line as Realme diversifies its skin beyond ColorOS. The skin is clearly aimed at a global audience, and Realme is making its way into Western markets, a welcome move.

Another area where Realme stands out is security updates. The brand has done a great job of rolling out regular security updates to all the phones in its portfolio, including older devices like Reality C1. Here is all you need to know about the Android 10 rollout of Realme.

List of Realme phones that won't be updated to Android 10

Realme released a lot of phones in the last two years, and the brand has confirmed that it will not roll out Android 10 update on every phone. Thankfully, there are only four devices on this list, and they make up the first generation of Reality devices. Although the devices below are not slated to switch to Android 10, they are receiving regular security updates. These are Realme phones that will not be updated in Android 10:

  • Realme 1
  • Realme 2
  • Realme c1
  • Realme u1
Realme C2 will be the last to receive the update, but Realme will have to restart with Android 11 just after that. It is likely that we will see some Realme devices eligible for Android 11 beta, and we will keep more details on that front after announcing Google's beta program this year.
