Vivo Android 11 and Funtouch OS 11: Here’s the List of Eligible Vivo Phones

China and India are no strangers to Vivo smartphones. They occupy a large share of India's smartphone market, and this is due to their offline distribution system. And these devices are no slouch, as Vivo is one of the companies offering new and unique features in their smartphones. Vivo was the first company to also offer an in-display fingerprint scanner.

But despite the hardware superiority of Vivo, there is still a lot to know about providing a similar software experience for Vivo. They roll out a lot of smartphones every year in every category from budget to mid-range to the flagship. But still, their software update policy is not official like other top tier smartphone manufacturers. And if you are a Vivo user and you are wondering if you will get the upcoming Android 11 update with Funtouch OS 11, then this article is for you.

Vivo Android 11 and Funtouch OS 11

Funtouch OS 11 is Vivo's upcoming custom skin which will likely be based on Android 11 operating system. With the next generation Funtouch OS we can see the latest UI design, new desktop icons, improved dark mode, new live wallpapers, improved Jovi virtual assistant and many customization options. Last year, Vivo released plans for Android 10 based Funtouch OS 10, months after the official Android 10 was released by Google. Based on how Vivo has updated the functional OS in the past, we have prepared a list of Vivo phones that will probably receive the upcoming Android 11 based Funtouch OS update.

How did we make the above list?

Vivo has recently released a handful of devices that come with Android 10. These devices are likely to receive the next Android update after becoming official in Q4 of 2020. Vivo has in the past excluded two major OS updates to its smartphones. We can expect Vivo to continue the trend and push the Android 11 update to devices that came out of the box with Android Pie. Some of them are yet to get Android 10, but if Vivo takes a while, we can expect these devices to run on Android 11 in 2021.

Whether these Vivo devices can get Android 11 or not

  • Vivo S1
  • Vivo S1 Pro
  • Vivo X30
  • Vivo X30 Pro
  • Vivo V17
  • Vivo V17 Pro
  • Vivo Z5

  • Vivo Z1x
  • Vivo Z1 Pro
  • Vivo V15
  • Vivo V15 Pro
  • Vivo S5

  • Vivo U3
  • Vivo U10
Vivo sometimes tends to avoid OS updates on its cheap budget and even mid-range devices. They push out a major OS update for this section of devices, and only occasionally do we see devices receiving two major OS updates from this section. However, it would be better that Vivo pull out Android 11 in all the smartphones in this section. That being said, these are devices that may or may not receive Android 11 based Funtouch OS updates.

The conclusion

These are speculations based on major OS updates with only Vivo's old track record. This may change when the actual update rolls out. However, we can expect that most of these Vivo devices will receive Android 11 update. Now one thing to remember here is that Vivo usually takes a long time to release the stable build of its Funtouch OS when the new Android version is launched. So to ensure which devices will receive updates, we have to wait until Q1 or Q2 of 2021.
